Print Component Research

 

For the print component I will be using Canva for my template and in this post I will be researching the Print Component for my portfolio. In class we were shown different student examples on their print component and this really helped me get visual representation on what it should look like. Since my project is a sports documentary I will be creating a 2 page article to illustrate the magazine conventions. 

Why am I researching print? I am doing so I will be able to show my ability to analyze my piece from different perspectives and write about my decision-making during the process.

Additionally, the advertisements promote Jordan's global appeal and cultural impact to attract a wide audience, by striking visuals and intriguing narratives to give off a sense of nostalgia and excitement.

How this inspires me: The print materials for "The Last Dance" inspire me with their ability to encapsulate the passion and excitement of basketball and celebrate the greatness of Michael Jordan. As I work on my portfolio project, which is a soccer documentary, I aim to try and capture the dynamic design and storytelling techniques seen in these advertisements to create compelling visuals that resonate with audiences but in a soccer version such as a person celebrating a goal or a slide tackle which shows emotion to the audience.

With the Maradona documentary as an example, this can help me see the techniques used to develop the character's personality within my film and introduce a main character. This documentary being a soccer one is also very helpful as I can see what shots are best to use on the field and what angles to use to capture the best moments.
