We won the Regional Quarter Finals and we now play in the Regional semi finals on Friday 2/16/24 @7pm. What a game we won 1-0 and scored in the last 10 minutes of the game off my corner kick cross. The celebration was insane and was probably one of the happiest moments of my life as last year we lost 1-3 in the regional quarter finals. Winning and advancing to the semis is a huge step in our goal to reaching states and moving forward with this documentary. There is a lot of game footage from the last couple of games that I will be using for b-roll and the indirect interviews will be done in the next coming weeks.
This was by far one of the hardest games we have played all season. The Monarch High School boys varsity team was very organized in defense and relied mainly on counter attacks to score against us. The game was kept 0-0 until the last 10 minutes of the game where my best friend and teammate Mathias Pacheco scored off a corner kick to make the game 1-0 and from there we just defended and made sure we keep the game 1-0. Blogging about these games is going to be a very important process as it helps me give first hand experience of the games to the audience, and reflecting back on it helps me to improve and keep me at peace throughout this tough journey. We are still very far from our end goal of making it to states as we are now going to play versus the team that beat us last year in the regional quarter finals. We will be versing Coral Gables on Friday 2/16/24! Hopefully we can beat them or else Ima to find another topic to work on with this project.
